Metal Gear Solid Delta, the upcoming remake of 2004’s Metal Gear Solid 3, premiered its first full-length trailer over the weekend as part of the Xbox Games Showcase. But one fan couldn’t help but feel like the remake could have been more faithful if it stuck to the original warm, yellow filter.
Konami, the developer and publisher of Metal Gear Solid Delta, promises that the upcoming remake will keep the “core experience” of the original game, but will be more “evolved and more immersive than ever.” With the same gripping story and engrossing world, Metal Gear Solid Delta aims to keep everything fans loved about the original game and take things to the next level with new graphics and 3D audio.

While there’s still no confirmed release date for Delta, a recent GameStop leak suggests that the title will be released on November 17th. However, it’s worth noting that this is the original date on which Metal Gear Solid 3 was first released, suggesting that the GameStop employee who leaked the information on X (formerly Twitter) simply Googled the release date and was shown the incorrect date.
So we might still be waiting quite some time for Metal Gear Solid Delta to actually release, but one fan has decided to kill some time by showing the community what the remake could look like if it was ever so slightly more faithful to the original game.
Whether you loved it or hated it, Metal Gear Solid 3’s yellow filter is somewhat iconic. While everything about Delta remains faithful to the original, including voice acting, controls (although, there is the option to use a more modern control layout), and more, fans can say goodbye to the constant yellow tint that was seen in the original game.
But X (formerly Twitter) user Vee has shown off what Delta could look like if it kept the yellow filter. Or, as they referred to it as…a “piss” filter.
It’s a simple change that appears to have divided Metal Gear Solid fans. “OG looks better with the filter because it was made with the filter in mind, Delta looks nicer without it,” one user said in response. Others, however, stated that it looked “so much better” with the addition of a filter.
Some users even believe that the remake will include the option to turn the yellow filter on and off with the legacy mode, but this is merely speculation and yet to be confirmed by Konami if such a feature will exist.
In conjunction with the release of its latest trailer, Konami also confirmed that players would be able to stick with the classic overhead view when playing or make use of the new third-person view, which aims for a more modern take on this classic title.
“Players can elect for a newly added, more modern control style. These intuitive controls let you focus entirely on the game, and the immersive thrills of the survival stealth experience. You can also choose to play with a classic control style that more closely recreates the feel of the original game,” Konami confirmed.
