Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has expressed deep disappointment with his team’s performance following their defeat to Bangladesh in the two-match Test series.

Pakistan lost the second Test by six wickets, marking Bangladesh’s second-ever overseas Test series win on Tuesday.

Masood criticised his team’s failure to capitalise on promising positions in both Tests.

In the first innings of the first Test match, Pakistan declared at 448/6 but allowed Bangladesh to score 565.

In the second Test, despite reducing Bangladesh to 26/6, Pakistan failed to prevent a recovery, with Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz scoring 165 runs for the seventh wicket.

“Extremely disappointed,” Masood said, reflecting on the team’s extended winless streak at home, now at 10 Tests.

“The pattern has been the same as in Australia; we haven’t learned our lessons. We were in good positions but failed to finish,” he added.

Masood noted that this issue has occurred multiple times during his tenure, emphasizing that Pakistan needs to address these lapses quickly.

He also pointed out concerns about the fitness of his fast bowlers, citing Mohammad Ali and Khurram Shahzad limited overs in the match.

“Test cricket demands better fitness,” Masood stated, highlighting that the team needs to manage workload better to avoid injuries.

The absence of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah further complicated matters.

Masood concluded that Pakistan might need to reassess their bowling strategy, suggesting that the team could have benefited from an additional pacer alongside the two spinners used in the match.
